This memorial website was created to remember our dearest Lavane Garner who was born in Georgia on October 19, 1933 and passed away on April 5, 1998 at the age of 64. You will live forever in our memories and hearts. Lavane Garner was my grandmother. I was her little angel. Some days are so hard it is like it was just yesterday that we lost her. Grandma was diagnosed with cancer when I was in the 5th grade, I will never forget that day. I got to be out of school that day and sat at the hospital the entire day and then when the surgeon told us they where not able to get it all and she only had a few months I did not understand what the doctor said. I aksed my mom when we stopped at the gas station, I said "Mama what is going to happen is she going to be ok?" Mama said no baby Grandma is going to get very sick and go to heaven. That day my heart broke what was life without my Grandma. I did my best to spend just as much time with her as I could but it wasn't enough. I would love to have another day with her. I want to hear her voice again,smell her perfume, be in her arms, I want to know what she thinks of the person I am today. 18 months later on April 4th (my moms birthday) we went to see her at my aunts and Grandma gave my mom a dress for her birthday and said this is your birthday and Easter dress and told us she knew she was sick but told mama she wouldn't die on her birthday and the next day my aunt called and said Grandma was not doing well that she wanted us all there and Grandma talked to all of before she died I still remember her telling me she loved me and that she wanted me to tell all my cousins about her and tell them she loves them and will be watching over them. I feel that I have failed her because I don't live close to my cousins and am not able to tell them about her like she asked me to do. I hope and pray that their parents tell them about her and that they know that she loves them .
